At Windy City Fencing, we fence only epee, one of the three weapons of modern fencing (the other two are foil and sabre). We think epee is the best weapon (though, to be fair, those who practice foil or sabre would disagree). Also, epee is the weapon fenced in the modern pentathlon, and the club's founders and its current head coach are pentathletes.
There are two principal differences between epee and both other weapons:
1) In epee, points can be scored on the entire body. In foil, only the torso scores; in sabre, only the torso, arms, and head.
2) In epee, there are no "right of way" rules, meaning that a fencer can counterattack without first parrying the opponent's attack. That's probably more information than you were looking for, but epee fencers think it is very important.
